Wendy and Miranda from Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire travelled through northern Tanzania

Hi Michele, Just wanted to let you know that Miranda and I had a wonderful safari. I can’t quite believe how fortunate we were with our wildlife sightings and experiences. Our guide was Kevin Mlay and he was very experienced and knowledgeable and looked after us so well. I would certainly recommend him. Olakira Camp was great, they gave us a family tent so we had an extra bedroom which was very good of them, and Alex the manager was such a good host. It was quite an adventure for two middle aged ladies hearing the wildebeest and lions roaring at night over the sound of the rain failing on the tent, then seeing lion prints in the mud in the morning just outside the tent! We saw everything we wanted to including lots of lions, leopards and cheetahs – but my true love are the elephants, such a joy to see the babies wallowing in the mud. My favourite day was spent at the crater, just so much to see and the lions got so close to the land cruiser, just for a bit of shade. Spotting the Black Rhinos was a treat , even at a distance. All the staff were wonderful at all the places we stayed, couldn’t do enough for us, we were treated like royalty. So a big thank you Michele for organising it all for us and recommending such wonderful accommodation and providing such a good company as Asilia as your agents. Thank you again Michele – it was a holiday of a lifetime and one I will never forget.

Rob, Sarah and family from Kent, travelled to northern Tanzania and Zanzibar

Mary, a big thank you for organising our trip to Tanzania. It was a complete success and has provided the whole family with some amazing memories to treasure. Our safari guide, Martin, was amazing and quickly worked out what our family was looking for. The itinerary was just right, with Becky sticking with it until the last night of safari when she went to bed early, exhausted but happy! Zanzibar was just what we needed, and the whole family soon took to the waters and we all did some great diving. Lots of happy memories and experiences to treasure! Many thanks again.

Stephen and Caron from London travelled to Kenya and Tanzania

Hi Rob, we had an amazing holiday – one of the best holidays in fact. Mara Toto – we were extremely lucky at Mara Toto – we were the only ones at the camp so were v spoilt. Saw a baby leopard near the camp most days, and with its Mum one day. The philosophy of this camp is fantastic – healthy food, not stodgy at all and very innovative, we had some amazing breakfast/lunches out in the bush. Amy – the manager was great. She used to be a cook and personal trainer in a former life, so was able to influence it in this way. We definitely want to go back. Klein’s Camp – they accommodated all our safari needs – we went out for a full day to see if we could find a crossing and also for 2 night drives – the first night we did not see a lot (except for an amazing bush baby bouncing from tree to tree) BUT the second night we saw 3 kills! There was a pride of very well fed lions that we found just before sun downers – by the time we finished and it had gone dark – they were up and about looking for dessert! They brought down a wildebeest, a big zebra that took ages to die 🙁 and a baby buffalo 🙁 Even the guides were taking photos as it was so rare to see this many in the space of 15mins, let alone one night! The meals at Klein’s were v average and very unlike what we would expect and have experienced from an And Beyond camp. The Palms – was outstanding – and again we had the place to ourselves almost, as only one other villa was occupied for 2 of the 4 nights!

Dear Bill, our holiday to Kenya and Tanzania was beautiful, fantastic!!! Under Russell’s expert guidance we saw and learned a lot and we are very grateful to him. David and Pamela from Surrey travelled to the Masai Mara in Kenya and then Katavi and Mahale in western Tanzania

Dear Rob, all the arrangements went well. The Serian camp is in an excellent location and very well managed by Roisin who made us very welcome. Our guide, James, was outstanding, one of the best ever. The game viewing exceeded our expectations. In the conservancy we saw lions (lots), cheetahs, hundreds of wildebeest and zebra, elephants, impala and many gazelles. We saw lots of hyena, packs of over 30, out and about in broad daylight, even with cubs, and clearly frightened of no one. On no occasion were there more than a couple of vans at any sighting: we thought it might be very busy but it wasn’t. Katavi, by contrast to the Mara, was a bit quieter in terms of game, although we did see 4 of the big five in one game drive. We saw more hippos in one drive than we have ever seen before and as the pools are drying the smell was just horrible! Mahale was completely different. The Greystoke camp is very well managed by the departing manager Sasha and his replacements Jeff and Kerry who made us very welcome. Our guide, Robert, was also good. Our first chimping was good. They were only about 40 mins away in the forest hills up from another camp so we went to that camp by boat and had a reasonable climb to find them as it was on the tracks all the way. On the second day two chimps decided to visit the camp just before we were about to go out into the forest. They had come to eat some mangoes which were just becoming ripe. We had about 40 mins following them through the undergrowth until they went off up a steep gradient and out of sight. As we were still entitled to a further 20 mins we set off to find some the trackers had located. This was a climb and a half. We were off the tracks for a lot of the one and a half hour climb (and it was a genuine climb up rocky slopes and through dense undergrowth) and in the end we saw only two chimps high up in a tree. We could hear that the others were not far away but they kept on moving and eventually even the trackers couldn’t go any further. It certainly demonstrated chimp sightings are not guaranteed!

Steve and Claire from Hertfordshire travelled to Kenya and Zanzibar

Whilst this was an expensive holiday we had a terrific time and we both felt it was well worth it. Safari Consultants (and especially Michele) delivered 100%. We would have no hesitation in recommending them to others.

Michelle, firstly let me thank you for your recommendations, organisation and advice – everything went like clockwork which is no mean feat over 18 nights with plenty of internal travelling – and we were in east Africa!!! Suffice to say we’d rate this as probably our best holiday – and we’ve been lucky enough to go to many great places.
