The trip of a lifetime! We felt like rock stars, flying in and out of camps and lodges, with never a moment’s doubt about a pickup or transfer. The recommended itinerary – arrived at after quite a bit of back and forth, since we were limited by time and had peculiar wishes, such as a preference for landscape and culture rather than game – suited us perfectly. I’d recommend Rob Slater to anyone planning a trip to Namibia.
Safari Consultants booked us 4 days with Johan Burger through Kunene Tours, and this camping segment proved to be the highlight of the trip. We found Johan super easy going, super well informed and prepared, and seemed to have radar as far as finding game was concerned – in short a dream camping trip was the result. We saw way more wildlife than we expected, and got as close to the land and culture as I think it’s possible to get in 9 days.

Hi Michelle, we had a fantastic holiday thanks and took some memorable photos. I would recommend Karen Blixen very highly as the staff were extremely helpful and courteous the setting couldn’t be better. We met some lovely people during our stay. Pinewood itself was also faultless but the surroundings and sights whilst traveling in and out were not pleasant (which is not in your control). Thanks very much for your help in planning this “once in a lifetime” holiday.

Dear Rob, back again from one of your incredibly well planned and executed safaris! Another wonderful experience – thank you. If I’ve marked Mwamba down slightly, it certainly isn’t because we didn’t enjoy it! We just felt that it wasn’t run quite as well as Kaingo. The guides were excellent. Tena Tena was a lovely camp in a wonderful area and a good way to finish – as you said, perhaps a bit more luxurious/customer care than Kaingo. Also we felt the food at Tena Tena was better suited to us – less carbs/cakes and better meal times/arrangements than Kaingo. However, we felt the hides and extra activities at Kaingo/Mwamba certainly made up for any slight detriment on that score. Thank you very much yet again for all your help and work to produce another excellent holiday. We still have dreams of visiting Botswana again but may have to wait a few years!

Mary, Just a short note to thank you for organising our holiday. It was very enjoyable. We saw all the animals we hoped to see plus some, a serval cat, we did not expect. My three boys also caught some really nice fish which we and the rest of the hotel had for dinner!

Hi Bill, Cathy and I just wanted say thank you for all your efforts in making our trip to Kenya go so smoothly. The whole trip was way above both of our expectations with the welcome and on-going hospitality, food etc in camp absolutely outstanding with every single member of staff addressing us by our first names throughout our stay. We have some stunning pictures somewhere in the 15,000 we took between us and now have the massive task of sorting them out. We were so lucky on our first four days with John, witnessing four crossings in two days and a number of great leopard sightings in addition to four week old lion cubs etc, etc. Even John said that some of the things we witnessed were either the first or best he had ever seen in the Mara. Once again many thanks and looking to save to go again!

Dear Rob, once again we would like to thank you for an amazing holiday! We were known as ‘ the lucky’ couple and people wanted to go on a drive with us because we were lucky enough to see so much action! We saw the Hollywood Pride try three times to make a kill, and even nearly had the ‘prey’ land in our jeep with the lioness following! We watched in awe as another lion pride of twelve, very skilfully set up their prey and make a kill, with a couple fighting over part of the bushbuck! Paul got stuck on a boat with three elephants drinking from the river up close and very personal! We had eight elephants join our chalet one day and one nearly joined us in the chalet he was so close, then three gave an amazing show swimming right in front of us before crossing the water! We were lucky enough to see two honey badgers in the day straight after seeing a civet in the day! We saw the most leopards in an evening this season, with one with three cubs eleven months old and one with one cub about six months old. We saw hyenas robbing a leopard of it’s kill while it just watched from a tree. We saw a leopard mating pair ‘in the act!’ We even saw, right in front of us a lioness attempt to attack a leopard by sneaking up on it beside our jeep! Thank goodness it made it up a tree! Well as you can tell, we had an incredible time. The lodges were great and the guides and people we met along the way were interesting too! We met a family who you also had organised their holiday for, who were singing your praises too! We look forward to your ideas and suggestions for our next safari, it will certainly take some beating, we feel. Thank you again.

Hello Rob, we are back home from our wonderful trip to South Africa. I wanted to thank you again for all your recommendations and arrangements, all of which worked out beautifully! Everything went off without a hitch. The accommodations were all excellent quality, and we enjoyed every place we stayed. Camps Bay Retreat had a wonderful, secluded, European feeling (the owners are German), and the breakfast each morning was delicious. Grootbos was also lovely – the setting is absolutely gorgeous, the cottages are beautiful and relaxing, the food outstanding, and the staff was very attentive. It was a particularly great place to go with children — they have a huge, well-stocked playroom where the kids could hang out any time of day, and there was a staff member who looked after the kids from morning till night. As great as Camps Bay and Grootbos were, we were most amazed and impressed by Morukuru. That place deserves 7 or 8 stars, if such a thing were possible! In an email I wrote to my parents, I told them I had found heaven on earth — it’s called Morukuru. The “Owner’s House” that we stayed in was incredibly luxurious. The beds, the linens, the bathroom, the living area — everything was gorgeous in this peaceful, zen kind of way. But most impressive was the service and attention we received while there. The staff was absolutely incredible. There was nothing they wouldn’t do to go out their way to please us. It was truly heaven. I would very highly recommend it to any of your future clients who are looking for a top-notch, once-in-a lifetime experience kind of place. Thank you again for everything. Mary, I am sure you would like to have some feedback on our trip. We had a great time and thank you for organising it. We saw a lot of wild life and some action like two leopards eating and impala, wild dogs chasing some impalas, a stand off between 3 lionesses and 7 hyenas, 500 buffaloes, 3 male lions walking through a pond, and lots of others.
